The 4th Academy Awards ceremony, presented by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), honored the best films released between August 1, 1930 - July 31, 1931, and took place on November 10, 1931, at the Sala D'Oro in the Biltmore Hotel in Los Angeles, California. During the ceremony, AMPAS presented Academy Awards in 9 categories. Actor Lawrence Grant hosted the ceremony for the first time.

Winners and nominees

Cimarron received the most nominations with 7; Skippy and Morocco came in second with 4 apiece. "Cimarron" received 3 awards and was the only film which won more then 1 award. Hans Dreier was nominated for a 3rd consecutive time and Lewis Milestone, Clarence Brown, Howard Estabrook and Norma Shearer were nominated for a 2nd consecutive time.
